Ted M. Kahn, Ph.D.

Dr. Ted M. Kahn is an Affiliate Research Scientist with the Institute for Research on Learning (IRL), a private, non-profit research institute in Menlo Park, CA (USA). He is the co-founder and President of DesignWorlds for Learning, Inc., a new commercial venture involving use of educational Intranets to support interdisciplinary learning of communities of students, teachers, parents, and professionals in various fields through shared collaborative, creative activities. Ted's formal education was in computer science and psychology, and he has been an educator actively involved in using technology to support creative lifelong learning for over 27 years.

He has been involved in teaching, curriculum development, teacher training, and advanced technology and learning research & development (both in the USA and Israel), and he spent over 15 years in commercial high technology product development and marketing positions with several Silicon Valley companies. Ted is especially interested in "design" as a interdisciplinary pedagogy for integrating new multimedia and networking technologies with project-based learning. He is currently involved in several projects using this approach to support creativity, collaboration and informal learning.
