African and Russian Animals as Characters in Namibian and Russian FolkloreFor students of 2-4 and 5-7 grades
1. Students from both countries make acquaintance sharing messages telling briefly about themselves and their schools, about their countries, interesting features of their culture and history, climate and environment.
Those messages are supposed to be kids answers to questionnaire, which was prepared by Tessa and Alyona before the project starts. This exchange of letters will help students know more about their partners.
2. Students share their favorite stories from Russian and Namibian folklore.
We suggest that younger kids (grades 2, 3, 4) do that, choosing their favorite stories (with animals as main characters), entering their texts in the computer and drawing those animals. They will also find pictures and photographs of the animals.
3. Students share some factual and scientific information about the animals.
Grades 5, 6, 7 will do that job, looking for interesting information, scanning pictures and maps and looking for links to sites where more can be learnt about them.
4. The final discussion will involve students of all ages. The kids will share their impressions of the type of job their partners did, about tales reflecting main features of chosen animals, and about the present day situation of those animals (are those species common or endangered etc).
