Drs Ernst Engels:
For the past 20 years I have worked in project management in Sub-Saharean countries (Botswana, Lesotho, South Africa and now in Zimbabwe) as a staff member of the "Vrije Universiteit" of Amsterdam, The Netherlands in Science and mathematics Inservice teacher training. I am educated as a biologist, but have become a generalist teacher trainer, excited by processes of change, especially in promoting student active learning and collaboration between teachers at the same school and other schools, within and cross-countries. I am trying to develop our projects based on a cyclic model, where design and execution is intermixed with research into the effectiveness of the execution and feedback provided to improve the activities. Mr. Emmanuel Mushayikwa: Science and Mathematics Education Department. I work with the Science Education Inservice Teacher Training Programme. The work involves the training of INSET Facilitators, who are A-level science teachers. We are also involved in the development of curriculum materials, and running workshops. I hold a Physics MPhil from Cambridge university.

| City and Country: | Harare, Zimbabwe |
| Proposed Project: | We are trying to establish the so-called ZimSciNet as a computer network between ten regional Science and Mathematics Centres in Zimbabwe ( each accessible to its cluster teachers) and link them with Universities, Teacher Training Colleges, Curriculum Development Unit and other Institutions in the countries. For the time being we are aiming at supporting A-level biology, chemistry, mathematics and physics teachers. We are at the very beginning of something grandiose. There are numerous problems we are facing but we are also convinced that this is the way to go! |
| Partners: | We are working together with a foundation called the Friends of the Zimscinet in the Netherlands. This includes professional educators from the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam. |
